Get to know : Simran Gulati
Simran Gulati, a powerhouse in Australia, representing the South Asian community has done it all. An Actress, Model, Entrepreneur, Influencer & Artisan Baker, the mum of 2 stays busy juggling her busy lifestyle with grace and humility.
Simran spoke to Flaire at the Afterpay Australia Fashion Week 2023 and we got to know more about her.
Simran got her start in 2016, where she was the 1st runner up in Mrs India Australia beauty pageant and later went on to win Mrs India Global in 2018. Opening doors to the world of fashion, she continues to model for top designers across the globe. She was an integral part of Balaji production project illustrating the world of Bollywood fashion by Elysian Desire. She is also the first South Asian model to walk the ramp at Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2021 for Indigenous brand Buluuy Mirrii, bringing diversity to the forefront of Australian fashion.
A determined personality, she moved onto commercialising herself as a brand and is now the Brand Ambassador of Scenic World Blue Mountains. She has shot various commercials for Australian brands such as Woolworths, Westfield, HCF, Event Cinemas, Australian Government, Dove and many more. Her infectious screen presence can also be seen on top TV shows such as Home & Away, Back to the Rafters, Total Control and Deadly Women. Simran got her mainstream media break as she was on Channel 7s World Cup of cooking show; Plate of Origin representing India. This was the first time an Indian Australian duo has been featured on prime time Australia television. If that wasn’t enough, she was the main lead in a feature film, Geometry The movie currently airing on Prime video and Zee5. To round it all out, she represented the Indian Diaspora at Cannes Film Festival.
As an entrepreneur, she has made major strides by launching a unique concept of Indo-Australian pies. The pies were featured on Channel 7s plate of origin and are available in various cafés across Sydney and through her website myteamindia.com.au
